What about the clean/unclean food?

What’s the problem for many?

The main thing holding people back (and you might be one of them as well) is that people believe that the clean food standard has been abolished together with some of priesthood laws. Hey, I was one of them. I get you. This belief mainly focuses on the vision Apostle Peter (Kefa) had, described in Acts 10. Many go to this part and then stop, wondering over what it means. Usually translating it as just that the Lord declares you can eat everything and anything… But is it really?

…the answer

As Kefa (Peter) sits and wonders about the vision, the answer comes in the form of gentiles searching for him. That’s what the vision is about. Because Peter had a problem with being around Gentiles, and especially eating with them. God declares them clean because they believed, and Peter is going with them to tell them how to get the salvation Yeshua the Messiah ensured by His sacrifice.

While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are seeking you. 20 Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”

And this is what it’s really about…

Unclean food still unclean?

Yes. Messiah doesn’t change His mind and then allows you to eat a cat, or a crocodile, a rat or something else… It’s still the way it is. Unless, these animals have been changed genetically and switched their purpose to those of a clean animals as well. Therefore, seizing to exist as they currently are; which did NOT happen. These animals still do the same things, still have the same role in nature, and still meet the unclean standard.

Peter says himself that he never ate anything unclean… Even long after Jesus (Yeshua) was crucified and resurrected. Meaning that He (the Lord) didn’t teach that. Didn’t serve them unclean food, nor told anyone else to do so. So He was just following the Lord in the right way there. That’s why a little “argument” almost and Peter’s refusal do accept the unclean. Because HE WAS NEVER TOLD TO DO SO. Lord Yeshua didn’t teach that.

Will this alone save you?

No. Only the sacrifice of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah will. Acceptance of the salvation, born again, baptism/immersion in water and doing the will of the Holly Father. Which bring us to foods. If I do the will of my Holy Father will I not do the smaller, less important things as well? Obedience follows the heart and love for God. Not the other way around.

What do I need to give up?

Basically nothing. You simply eat normal, clean food. Turkey, chicken, lamb, fish and so on. Giving up pork is the hardest for most people, and some of the sea food they’ve been used to. Thing is these things are unclean and do the nature’s dirty work. Full of damaging things inside, both physically and spiritually.

When I gave this up, and came to my senses with the guidance of the Holy Spirit within me I was amazed that nothing really changed for the worse. If anything, it felt even better. I feel blessed. Thank you God! I somehow thought before all this that it will be a form of ascetic hard life or something, very few choices and all that. Very hard to get used to, and follow. Truth is I felt it in the spirit, and literally in a snap the change happened. Haven’t look back ever since.

Basically clean food is just normal food, and unclean is really what the word says. Few days of reading through the Scripture as I got convicted really re-enforced this. Then I was having lunch and just started following. Thank God.

The opposition…

The people, especially those around you will give you some hard time probably. Although my family just accepted. Including friends that asked me about it in various situations. It was way better than I thought it’d be. Thank God again.
If you have the opposition, just be sure that you’re holding the truth, and that no human nor spirit that’s not of God can change that. God will help you of course. I will pray for you, and may the readers of this article, that are making this step, and are in the body of Yeshua the Messiah be blessed and encouraged. In the name of God, Amen.
